My family has had a crazy busy spring! This season our oldest daughter got married and we welcomed our son-in-law to the family. Our youngest daughter graduated high school a couple of weeks after that. We spent lots of time together as a family! With Father’s Day coming this Sunday, I can’t help but think how blessed my daughters are to have such an incredible father that has always been a huge part of their lives.
There’s definitely not just one thing that makes him a good father; it’s really the combination of everything over their entire lives. He’s truly been the anchor of our family. When our first daughter was born, I was working full time and working toward my bachelor’s degree part time at night. That left him home two nights each week taking care of her, making sure she was bathed, fed, and nurtured. If it wasn’t for him being such an active and involved dad, I’m not sure that I would have been able to finish college. And then a few years later when I said I wanted to go to grad school and earn a master’s degree, he was the one that supported and encouraged me (although he probably should have told me I was crazy to go back to school).
When the girls got a little older, there were Girl Scout trips, school events and sports. When no one signed up to coach the soccer team, guess who stepped up? Yep, that’s right. Coaching a team of 5 year old little girls is no easy task either; there are lots of little emotions and the tendency to pick flowers and watch the grass grow.
Even now that our girls are both adults, he continues to be the strong male influence they need in their lives. Last month, he got to walk our oldest daughter down the aisle. It wasn’t hard to tell that he was a proud dad – as well he should be. Two weeks later, he watched our youngest daughter walk across the stage at her high school graduation. Both girls are strong, beautiful, independent young women but still need their daddy.
Next up for super dad? Becoming a grandpa! There’s no doubt in my mind that our grandson will have the best grandpa in the world and become grandpa’s little fishing buddy!
So how do you find the perfect gift for a special dad like him? This year, he’s being treated to a Nautica Voyage Gift Set from Macy’s! Browsing around the men’s cologne section at Macy’s, I noticed the display for Great American Dads and after trying several other scents, decided that Nautica Voyage was perfect for this dad. Smell is such a powerful sense and Dad’s scent will always trigger memories of the first man my daughters ever loved. Nautica Voyage symbolizes a man on a journey – whatever journey that might be for him. And our life has been a journey that keeps us guessing. Much like my husband, Nautica Voyage is fresh and cool and undeniably masculine. This deluxe gift set is only $65.00, a $128.00 value. It includes a 3.4 oz Eau de Toilette, 2.5 oz Aftershave Balm, 2.5 oz Shower Gel, and 1 oz Eau de Toilette. You can even get this special deal online at Macys.com!
