I was super excited to be given the opportunity to review PRO Compression Marathon socks. PRO Compression offered me the choice of their marathon socks or compression sleeves. Lots of distance runners wear compression socks or sleeves but I’ve only ever owned a pair of off-brand (cheap) sleeves and didn’t see much benefit in them so didn’t use them regularly. But I was still left wondering why so many runners used them so I jumped on the chance to try a different brand without purchasing more. I always hesitate to tell my husband that I am going to spend more money on running gear. Running is an expensive habit for me when you consider the cost of shoes, shorts/tanks, race entry fees, socks, handheld water bottles, hats, GPS watch, etc, etc, etc. So I just couldn’t justify the expense of trying something new.
I decided to test them for a short treadmill run first. Since I haven’t run in compression socks before, it was kind of an odd feeling to have my calves so, well, compressed. But it didn’t take me long to get used to that feeling and then I realized that I wasn’t having any of the usual little muscles pains that I get. That was only a 5 mile test though – the true test would be a Saturday long run and I had 16 miles on the schedule that day. So Saturday came and I donned my PRO Compression socks and hit the trail. Again I got used to the compressed feeling of my calves and didn’t even notice it after a while. And my 16 miles turned into 18 since I was feeling pretty good. I kept the socks on for another 30 minutes while I drove home so that helped with post-run recovery. I have to say I’m now a big fan of PRO Compression socks and understand what the fuss is about now. They seem a little expensive (like everything else running-related), but it’s so worth it to not have to deal with muscle pain! Compression socks are a must-have for me now! And PRO Compression is generously offering 40% off your entire purchase at the PRO Compression online store – just enter the discount code “PINK” and get 40% off! If you’ve been on the fence about purchasing compression socks, this discount is a great way to try one of the top brands with little risk!
Here’s more information about what makes PRO Compression so awesome:
This design requires more effort to put on than standard socks. But itβs that extra effort and much-needed compression that make all the difference. Be patient and your feet will thank you.
True graduated compression promotes circulation by pushing fluid up from your feet and ankles to toward your knees. This design also helps reduce swelling and inflamation while providing critical support to muscles and tendons.
Which sock design would you choose?
