I have officially started using my written training plan! I don’t consider my training plan to be written in stone, but I do like the structure of actually having a plan. It’s just something I need to make sure I get my workouts done. I didn’t stick with the plan 100% this week because of scheduling, mood changes, or whatever else came up. But the schedule served it’s purpose and I had a great workout week!
Here’s what it looked like:
Sunday: My plan was to go to Body Pump and Zumba Step at the gym. My friend Sarah was going to meet me for Zumba Step so I was looking forward to having a friend to share that with. I know I have no rhythm and I can see what I look like in the mirror but I figured it would be a really good ab workout for Sarah since she would really get a good laugh from watching me shake my stuff. You don’t think laughing is a good workout? Well, you’ve never seen me dance! Sadly, the instructor had a sick child and class was cancelled. So we ended up doing 35 minutes on the elliptical. It was still a good workout but Zumba Step will have to wait for another day!
Monday: Today was a run day so I ran 5 miles on the treadmill. Nothing exciting to tell here unless you watch Parenthood. In that case, I finished last week’s episode so I am not caught up!
Tuesday: Took today as a rest day, mostly because I worked late and had to do stuff around the house. My family wants to eat every single day and I’m still waiting for the cleaning fairy to stop by so I had to do the cooking and cleaning myself. I can’t say that dinner took much effort since I’ve been making crock pot freezer meals every day but if you saw the cleaning that needed to be done around here, you’d completely understand.
Wednesday: This morning I met my friend Patricia to run before work. I knew it was more than likely going to be a late night at work so I was thankful to get my run done early. It wouldn’t have happened otherwise. We had a great 6.4 mile run that left me ready to face the day.
Thursday: I’m really loving having a schedule to stick to and getting back to a regular running routine. Today was another 6 miles on the treadmill since I pushed it back because my husband was briefly home before leaving for a meeting so we got to have dinner together. So I just ran later on the treadmill but I got it done since it was on the schedule.
Friday: Today’s plan was to run 4 miles at the gym before Body Pump. But my teenager had been begging me to sign her up for the gym so that took up my running time. I did make it to Body Pump and had a great workout though but decided to not worry about the run since it was getting late and I had a long run in the morning.
Saturday: My training schedule said 13 miles for today but that was just kind of random number. I wanted to run at least 13 and see how that felt. If I felt good, I would keep going. If not, I’d call it good at 13. I met my friend Monica at 6 AM and we had a great 13.1 mile run. I don’t ordinarily end a run on a .1 or .2 since I like even numbers but we were almost back to our cars so we might as well run our own little half marathon. So that’s what we did! After that, we ran another 4.1 miles with the novice group at an easier pace. That’s was a lot of fun and I ended up with over 17 miles for the day!
