Crispy Baked Sweet Potato Chips

Ingredients:

  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Olive oil spray
  • Seasonings of your choice (such as cumin, garlic salt, etc.)

Directions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
  2. Prepare Sweet Potatoes: Wash and peel the sweet potatoes. Using a sharp knife, a mandoline slicer, or a spiral vegetable cutter, slice the sweet potatoes into very thin rounds.
  3. Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly coat it with olive oil spray to prevent sticking.
  4. Arrange Sweet Potato Slices: Arrange the sliced sweet potatoes in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Make sure they are not overlapping to allow for even cooking.
  5. Seasoning Options: If you’d like, you can season the sweet potato slices before or after baking. For example, sprinkle cumin or garlic salt over the slices before baking for added flavor. Alternatively, you can choose to season them right after they come out of the oven while they are still warm.
  6. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning. The exact baking time may vary based on the thickness of the slices and your desired level of crispiness.
  7. Check for Crispiness: The sweet potato slices are ready when they are golden brown and crispy. If they are not yet crispy, you can bake them for a few more minutes, checking frequently.
  8. Season After Baking: If you didn’t season the sweet potato slices before baking, remove them from the oven and immediately season them with your desired seasonings while they are still warm.
  9. Cool and Serve: Allow the sweet potato chips to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a serving dish. As they cool, they will continue to crisp up.
  10. Enjoy: Once the sweet potato chips are cool and crispy, you can enjoy them as a healthy and delicious snack!
