Healthy and Tasty Treats for Dogs

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Cooling Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 55 minutes

Yield: Depends on muffin tin size, approximately 12 standard muffins.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup quinoa (uncooked)
  • 1 cup water (for cooking quinoa or as per package instructions)
  • 1 cup cheese (preferably a mild cheese like cheddar), plus a little extra for topping
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup carrots, peeled and shredded
  • 1 cup green beans, washed and sliced
  • Cooking spray or muffin liners (optional, for easy removal)

Directions:

  1. Cook the Quinoa: In a medium pot, cook the quinoa according to the package directions. Once cooked, remove from heat and let it cool for about 15 minutes.
  2. Preheat Oven: While the quinoa is cooling, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Prepare Muffin Tins: Lightly spray a muffin tin with cooking spray or line with muffin liners to prevent sticking.
  4. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the cooled quinoa, cheese, beaten eggs, shredded carrots, and sliced green beans. Mix everything together until all the ingredients are well incorporated.
  5. Fill Muffin Tins: Spoon the mixture into the prepared muffin tins, filling each cup almost to the top. Sprinkle a little extra cheese on top of each muffin for a tasty finish.
  6. Bake: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for about 20 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and a toothpick or fork inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.
  7. Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and let the muffins cool in the tin for a few minutes. Then, transfer them to a cooling rack and let them cool completely before serving to your dog.

Serving Suggestions: Depending on the size of your dog, you may want to crumble up the muffins into smaller, bite-sized pieces.

Notes: Always introduce new treats to your dog’s diet in moderation and monitor for any allergies or adverse reactions. It’s essential to ensure that all ingredients used are safe for dogs. Avoid using any seasoning or ingredients that might be harmful.

Storage: Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. You can also freeze them and thaw as needed.

Enjoy watching your furry friend savor these healthy and delicious treats!
