Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 8 hours (beans) + 25 minutes (rice)

Total Time: Approximately 8 hours 35 minutes

Serves: 4-6

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of Ragin’ Cajun Fixin’s Cajun Style Red Beans with Seasonings & Vegetables
  • 1 cup Texmati Rice
  • 10 cups water (for the beans)
  • 1 3/4 cup water (for the rice)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Beans: a. Open the package of Ragin’ Cajun Fixin’s Red Beans and pour its contents into a crock pot. b. Add 10 cups of water to the crock pot and give it a good stir to ensure the seasonings and beans are well mixed. c. Set the crock pot on low heat and let it cook for about 8 hours. Alternatively, you can set it on high heat and cook for 4-6 hours.
  2. Prepare the Rice: a. In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of Texmati Rice with 1 3/4 cup of water. b. Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Stir it once to prevent the rice from sticking. c. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low. Cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid and let it simmer for 15 minutes. d. After 15 minutes, remove the saucepan from heat. Keep it covered and let it stand for another 5-10 minutes.
  3. Serve: a. Fluff the rice with a fork and scoop a generous amount onto a plate or bowl. b. Ladle the cooked red beans over the rice. Ensure you get a good mix of beans, seasonings, and vegetables. c. Optional: Garnish with fresh parsley or green onions, and serve hot!

Tips:

  • Feel free to add sausage or any protein of choice to the beans for an added flavor.
  • Adjust the water quantity if you prefer your beans to be thicker or thinner.
  • For an added kick, serve with hot sauce or cayenne pepper on the side.
